Around the World in 40 Days

    Written by Megan Callihan
user-group-travel-graphicSMALL31,346 miles… 40 days … and (a lucky) 13 airplanes later, the second quarter of ConnectWise User Groups has been successfully completed. My tenure with ConnectWise Consulting is pretty short – about 7 months. This was my second round of user groups and I can say that I relished every minute of it. Well, that may be an exaggeration. I didn’t enjoy the gigantic, marshmallow-esque swollen feet that resulted in sitting for 24 hours on a (or four) planes to Melbourne or the 6 hour tornado delay in Baltimore. But, I (and really all of the members of the ConnectWise User Group crew) love meeting our partners – from dialoging on all things ConnectWise to working towards solutions on common operations problems; it’s always a trip of new experiences. ConnectWise User Groups are tagged as a way to ‘Connect. Collaborate. And Grow.’ - And rightly so.

Connect. While I am fairly new to Consulting, I’m not new to ConnectWise. Previously a Team Lead in Partner Support, frequent contributor to the Forums, and attendee/ presenter of three IT Nations, I have had the pleasure of at least virtually meeting much of the partner base. But there’s nothing like a handshake to put a face with a name. The user groups are free to attend and allow you to meet other Partners in your area as well as ConnectWise Consulting, Sales, Community and in some cases, Support – the people that you frequently work with. We’ve heard from you, time and time again, that the Networking aspect of the User Groups is valued more than anything else. As it should be! There’s nothing like getting experiences from those around you and learning from their mistakes or successes.

Collaborate. I’m a ConnectWise nerd – I get a kick out of automation and features and have been known to yammer on far past anyone’s point of caring on the benefits of workflow rules. So when I say I am incredibly pumped about the new Hands-on Labs we’re bringing to the User Groups, you can bet I’m being sincere. It’s amazing how collaborative the room becomes when everyone is logged into a test environment, speaking to agreements, and someone has a question. Heads turn to listen intently as those that can give case examples of the ways they’ve dealt with a problem or hitch in the process. It’s invigorating!

And Grow. I can’t imagine traveling and not growing. In London, the partners tutored the User Group team on making the perfect cup of tea. In Chicago, we learned that Harry Caray brought ‘Holy Cow’ to our vernacular (and looked good doing it with some pretty chic specs). Australia taught my anti-sports brain what it could of the Australian Football League and amazed us all with the sheer volume of spectators. Heading up to Baltimore, we soaked up the sights of the inner harbor and the torrential downpour – I thought Florida had the most serious rainstorms! That’s the thing about traveling – it really expands your mind to the culture and personalities of those outside of your geographical comfort zone.

So thank you to all of the partners that joined the User Group teams throughout the thirty one thousand mile tour – we look forward to starting the next round soon and hope to meet many, many more of you! The Q3 User Group dates have been announced and registration for all Groups will be opening soon.
